A pair of brown cuckoo doves have been coming to the bird feeder outside the playroom window. If we don't put seed out regularly, they have started following us around to remind us. Here they are perched on the bean support of the veggie garden. They are called cuckoo doves because that is what their call sounds like - not because they don't look after their own eggs.

I have been getting up very early (4am) to study. Wombat often wakes up before dawn to join me. I created a "snuggle spot" in a corner of the playroom, where he will sometimes agree to lie and watch out the window while I keep working. Sometimes he even goes back to sleep!

Remember the huge, strange spiky plant that took 10 years to flower (post #103)? Instead of growing seed pods, the flowers grew into new baby spiky plants - hundreds or even thousands of them. Wombat loves the hunt and has been gathering them up as they start to fall.
